The Titans signed Wright to their practice squad Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. Wright arrives in Tennessee having previously appeared in three games between stops with the 49ers and Chiefs, during which he converted on 11 of 12 field-goal attempts and five of five extra-point tries. He'll give Tennessee another option at kicker after the team waived Brayden Narveson, who filled in for an injured Nick Folk (abdomen) in Week 16 and hit both of his extra-point tries but misfired on his lone field-goal attempt in a 38-30 loss to the Colts. Wright will likely be elevated to the active roster and serve as the Titans' kicker for Sunday's game against the Jaguars if Folk isn't cleared to play.

Matthew Wright Latest News
Added to Tennessee's practice squad

Let go by KC

The Chiefs waived Wright on Saturday. Wright's departure from Kansas City comes as a corresponding move to Harrison Butker (knee) being activated off injured reserve. Wright filled in for Butker during the final two weeks of the latter's absence and went 8-for-9 on field-goal tries, including 1-for-2 from 50-plus yards, while also converting both his extra-point attempts. Wright's overall success this season -- he also went 3-for-3 on field-goal tries earlier in the campaign in one game with the 49ers -- should make him one of the most desirable options should another organization have a sudden need for a placekicker.
Expected to be cut

Wright is expected to be let go by the Chiefs on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Harrison Butker (knee) is expected to be activated off injured reserve and kick Sunday, which would push out Wright entirely despite going 8-for-9 on FGAs over his two games with the Chiefs this season. Expect the team to formally announce both transactions at some point later Saturday.
Comes through in the clutch

Wright made all four field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point try in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Chargers. Wright was perfect, connecting from 47, 33, and 50 yards out, before converting the game-winning 31-yard try as time expired, sealing a win for the Chiefs. The 28-year-old is now 8-for-9 on FGAs in two games with Kansas City this season and could operate as the team's kicker in Week 15 against the Browns if Harrison Butker (knee) isn't ready to return from IR.
Set to kick Sunday

Wright has been signed to the Chiefs' active roster. With Spencer Shrader (hamstring) having been placed on IR on Wednesday, Wright is slated to handle the team's kicking duties Sunday night against the Chargers. Beyond that, it remains to be seen if Wright holds on to the assignment, with Harrison Butker (knee) potentially rejoining the mix as soon as Week 15.
Back to practice squad

Wright reverted to the Chiefs' practice squad Saturday, per the NFL's transaction log. Wright was the Chiefs' placekicker for Friday's game against the Raiders. He went 4-for-5 on field-goal attempts and converted his lone extra-point try as he paced Kansas City to a 19-17 win over Las Vegas. With Harrison Butker (knee) on injured reserve and Spencer Shrader nursing a hamstring injury, Wright could be the Chiefs' starting kicker for Week 14 against the Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Converts four field goals Friday

Wright went 4-for-5 on field-goal attempts and made his only extra-point try in Friday's 19-17 win against Las Vegas. Wright was elevated from the practice squad Thursday with Harrison Butker on IR due to a knee injury and Spencer Shrader inactive with a hamstring issue. Wright's successful field goals came from 25, 42, 35 and 32 yards out, while his lone miss was a 59-yard try that ended the first half. Wright could kick for the Chiefs again in Week 14 against the Chargers -- Butker isn't eligible to return until Week 15, and Shrader wasn't able to practice at all this week due to his injured hamstring.
Taking over kicking duties Friday

Wright was elevated from the Chiefs' practice squad Thursday ahead of Friday's matchup against Las Vegas. Wright will kick for Kansas City on Friday, as Spencer Shrader has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. It will be the second game Wright has kicked in this season -- he was San Francisco's kicker in Week 6 against Seattle and converted all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries but hurt his shoulder and back and subsequently landed on IR. Wright has kicked for five teams in his NFL career, and this will be his second stint as a member of the Chiefs.
Joins Chiefs' practice squad

Kansas City signed Wright to its practice squad Tuesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Interim starting kicker Spencer Shrader is dealing with a hamstring injury ahead of Friday's game versus the Raiders, so it would stand to reason that Wright could be the Chiefs' plan at kicker for Week 13. He has already kicked for a different team this season, making all of his three field-goal tries and converting all three of his extra-point attempts in Week 6 with the 49ers.
